So while we try to decide between the beach and the forest, here are a few cool things around the web, happening now or coming soon:
My friend and fellow 2K10 Holly, Holly Schindler (A BLUE SO DARK) is having a Flash Fiction contest! The idea is to hit Holly with the wickedest writing prompt you can think of (by Sept. 1st), and she will use it to write an original piece. "Try to stump me," she spits in our eye. Check it out if you dare!
Hey, writers, have a first chapter you'd like critiqued? Awesome YA Fresh blogger/YA author Tina Ferraro is giving away a fantastic first chapter critique to help benefit St. Jude's Hospital - plus there is a traveling critter! All the deets are here.
In the spirit of paying it forward, author and writing teacher Darcy Pattison is inviting bloggers, authors, kidlitters (in other words everybody, right?) to participate in RANDOM ACTS OF PUBLICITY. What's that, you ask?
It's sort of like love letters in graffiti, except the subject is authors and books, and the medium is the web. September 7-10 (the week after Labor Day), spread the word about the authors and books you love. You can even join the Facebook event and add the #booklove hashtag to your tweets! I'm going to be doing stuff all week.
Speaking of writing and stuff, the 2011 Edition of Children's Writer's & Illustrator's Market is now available (including an article I wrote, "Telling Your Secrets"). Writers, I'd love to hear what you think and if the article is helpful to you.
TMAS is still at readergirlz for the rest of the month, and then in September, we're hosting none other than Maureen Johnson and the Suite Scarlett books. Woot!
There's so much more, but for now I'll end with a TMAS giveaway!!! Steph at Reviewer X is giving away not one but TWO copies of TELL ME A SECRET! Last chance to enter today, and good luck!
