A giveaway! Yes, a giveaway!

It's Wednesday, so why not?

My spouse is the biggest sweetheart in the world. He bought my favorite childhood movie for me not once, but twice. So I now have a spare, unopened DVD of The Neverending Story.

Seriously, no snickering. I loved this movie! I loved it so much that I dressed up like the Golden Eyed Commander of Wishes (a.k.a. Moonchild), complete with white gown and jewel in the middle of my forehead, saying, "Bastian, pleeeeeaaaase! Save us!"

Even better was the book, by Michael Ende - an amazing volume printed in red and green to separate Bastian and Atreyu's stories and with chapters beginning with letters A to Z (the movie actually only covered up to about chapter H), which I read...let's see...no fewer than a dozen times (thanks to my cousins for introducing me on that fateful Klamath Falls camping trip where I stayed up until 3 a.m. - a big thing at nine years old - and cried, yes, cried, because I didn't want the book to end).

So if you would like to win a pristine copy of The Neverending Story movie, here's your chance!

1 pt: leave a comment
2 pts: become a follower (or remind me that you're already a follower)
3 pts: retweet or repost!

Don't forget to leave an email if you don't have a blog - I will toss all the names into a hat on Friday at 5pm PST and announce next Monday!

  1. GREAT MOVIE! And I agree; your spouse is swell. I put a 25-cent down payment on Lyra last night, too. Please update your records to reflect that.

  2. I loved this slumber party classic, but have to admit I still find it too traumatizing in parts to watch again. I was the kid who could handle great human drama, but if any animal was harmed, it was all over. Who am I kidding, I still boycott books and movies when I know they have sad animal storylines. Sniff, I miss out, but I'm just too tender-hearted. That said, your nostalgic post has me eager to get my hands on a copy of the book. I can't wait to find out what happens after chapter H!

  3. Yes! A definite childhood favorite, sandwiched right between The Princess Bride and Clash of the Titans (yes, that's right...I admit it!).

  4. Oh my gosh, this is my absolute favorite movie, as a kid. I can remember watching it in theaters when it first came out. I didn't know they even printed it on cd. I would love to win this. Now, I wonder if they have a Dark Crystal Dvd somewhere out there.

  5. I tweeted this giveaway

  6. I am looking for a producer for The Neverending Story on stage at Javits Convention Center in New York City. Both an opera and ballet score have been composed by Siegfried Matthus. And along with The Kennedy/Marshall Co. and Appian Way, Warner Bros. is producing The Neverending Story as a modern feature film with an original soundtrack.

Please refer to my website for more details by following the link below.

  7. I'm a follower, too! AND I'm tweeting about your giveawy--I planned to even before reading about your point system :-). This is one of my faves, too, in both book and movie forms

  8. Oh, I so wanted to be up in that attic reading and I wanted that dog-like dragon for a pet. Although I have to admit I never read the book and would dearly love to read it (and will). I want to be able to enchant my 'someday' grandchildren as I was enchanted. I do follow your blog:)

  9. Clash of the Titans - totally classic! Didn't you lust after Andromeda's hair?

Yes, Genevieve, I hear you on the animal tragedy. The book is really, really good. It's in my top five ever.

  10. Oh hi, Kate - me, too! You're going to love the book, I promise. ;)

  11. Hi Holly :)
I haven't seen The Neverending Story in ages. Great movie! I posted about your giveaway on my blog for midnight Wed Dec 2nd.
