Social Bunnies, Dino-Tooth Fairies, and General Awesomeness

Yesterday was a big day for Bunnies, Dinosaurs, Martha Brockenbrough, and all of us who attended Greg Pincus' social networking workshop via SCBWI WWA. (You can follow our Twitter thread here.)

Greg has that je ne sais quois of those few who possess intelligence, charm, humility, and a striking resemblance to George Clooney. Photos stolen from Jolie:

(I am laughing with total embarrassment because Kim Baker, awesome SCBWI gal & writer, has just told me my sweater was doing that J-Lo camera flash thing...eek... Take that, sweater.)

We ran into lots of friends, including Bonny Becker, author of the wildly popular A VISITOR FOR BEAR:

And while we were tweeting and generally causing a ruckus in the back row (but not before Greg gave shout-outs to lots of awesome kidlit sites, including Jen Robinson's Book Page, Mitali's Fire Escape, Lee Wind, readergirlz, and lots of others - thank you, Greg!), we got the news...the incredible...the not-remotely-unexpected-because-she-is-a-genius-to-be-reckoned-with...

Martha Brockenbrough sold her picture book to Arthur A. Levine Books! WAHOOOOO!

So if you are in Seattle, come see both Martha and Greg present at tonight's SCBWI WWA professional series meeting at SPU's Demaray Hall, begins at 7 p.m. Hope to see you there!

  1. Looks like fun!!! Congrats to Martha!!!

  2. Congrats! It sounds like a great time. :]

  3. I still can't believe that Martha didn't start her presentation last night by mentioning her deal. I mean it came up at the meeting and all, but the total professionalism was impressive. Then again, being funny about GRAMMAR was impressive, too.

Good seeing you again, and thanks for the kind words. I took a screenshot of them to send to my mom. Hope you don't mind :-)

  4. Well, thank you, Greg! I'd be awfully proud to be read by your mom.

And yes, Martha is one of the classiest, most brilliant people I know. And an incredible writer!
