Beginnings, Bodies, and Bookdrops

Things are a bit quiet here at Brimstone Soup while I catch up from a very busy month (and prepare for that Angelina Ballerina Ice Fairy Princess party I mentioned a while back...), so I thought I would share some fascinating happenings:

Molly Blaisdell has been writing a series of posts about Beginnings that are right on the money. Molly has an intuitive understanding of story that blows my mind. She also wrote a very interesting post about Elizabeth Gilbert on Genius. Check it out.

It's Body Image Week over at My Favorite Author. Many incredible authors have contributed to this theme, and especially of note to me was the post by Sara Zarr here and another by the irresistable Sydney Salter, author of the newly-released My Big Nose and Other Natural Disasters. Words are important.

So are actions--and I have been amazed and heartened by all of the people who have spoken through books, dropping teen reads and more in their communities to celebrate readergirlz' Operation Teen Book Drop. See them here and here and here!

I'm also completely fascinated by Little Willow's Hope Series. She is a force of hope to be reckoned with.

  1. pls take pictures of the party - my daughter would love that! you are so creative!

  2. Aw, what a cute picture. :) I've heard about Body Image Week - I HAVE to take a look!

  3. Thank you for a great collection of links - i love what you find out there. Your piece on hope at little willow's site is beautiful. Oh, and thank you for your recent comments!
