Stick Figures to Fleshy Fabulousness

That's the title of the workshop I'm doing tonight on creating well-rounded characters at Meg Lippert's Intermediate UW Writing for Children class. (Eeek!)

It's especially cool to have this opportunity because six years ago, I was sitting in that class with Justina Chen Headley, Sara Easterly, and a host of other talents hearing the likes of Dia Calhoun, Margaret Chodos-Irvine, Laura Kvasnosky, and other guests inviting us into their own fascinating writing journeys. I still have a fantasy novel idea lingering from the night Dia talked about world-building. (Hmmm.)

At practically midnight last night, a writing exercise idea hit me - I hope the class gets a kick (and some great ideas) out of it. Even my non-writing husband thought it sounded racy and fun. I'll give you a hint: I could retitle the talk to Secrets, Styles, and Sins...

  1. I wish I could be there to hear it! :)

  2. Oh, you bring back fond memories of our days in class. Enjoy tonight, on the other side of the desks!
